Today I journeyed into town for a chat over lunch with a theatrical man named Baz. No… not the marvel that is Baz Luhrmann, but the marvel that is Barry M Dudley- General Manager of The Crescent Theatre Company.
(Barry in one of his signature shirts… LOVE it!)
These conversations are seriously informing my research and today was no different. It turns out that Barry and I envisage the exact same thing for our beloved theatre. We both acknowledge that, as theatre-makers, we are a dying breed and the only way to bridge the gap between our art form and the younger generation is by developing a common (and current) visual language- a language that is accessible to absolutely everyone. Well, I’m truly honoured to have been given that task, and as the late great Steve Jobs once said, “Those crazy enough to think that they can change the world are often the ones that do.”
Let’s hope that he was right eh, since my creative team and I are already brimming with promotional ideas for what we like to call, “this untapped resource.” Community is at the heart of everything we do and the consensus is that we must act now if we’re to save this age-old institution. One of the reasons I started this blog was to showcase the perks of a theatre membership, and that content will be winging its way to you very very soon but for now, a few Insta pics of my glorious day in the sunshine will have to suffice.
